1. Overview
Famleys (referred to as “Famleys”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides tools that help households coordinate events, tasks, lists, expenses, and family encouragement. This Privacy Policy applies to the Famleys website, mobile applications, and related services (together, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, authentication details, profile image or avatar, language, time zone, and preferences.
- Family information: family name, member names, roles, invitations, managed profiles, and family settings.
- Content you create: events, tasks, lists, expense entries, notes, kudos, moods, and other information you choose to add.
- Communications: messages and information you send when you contact support or provide feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, language, approximate region, IP address, timestamps, pages or features used, and diagnostic events.
- Cookies and similar technologies: our website may use essential cookies or local storage to operate securely and remember basic preferences. We will request consent where required for non-essential technologies.
Information from connected services
If you choose to connect a third-party account or calendar, we receive the information needed to provide that connection, such as account identifiers, authorization tokens, and selected calendar information. Your use of third-party services is also governed by their privacy policies.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, personalize, and maintain the Service;
- create and manage family spaces, profiles, invitations, and permissions;
- sync requested calendars, send notifications, and support app widgets;
- secure accounts, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems;
- understand feature performance and improve the Service;
- respond to questions and communicate important service updates; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and users.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations, as appropriate.
4. Family spaces and managed profiles
Information added to a family space is generally visible to the members of that space based on their assigned roles and permissions. Family administrators control invitations, member access, and certain family settings. Please add only information that is appropriate to share with those members.
An adult parent or guardian may create a managed profile for a child or another family member. The adult is responsible for providing any required consent and for deciding what information to enter. Famleys does not knowingly permit children below the applicable digital-consent age to create an independent account without valid parent or guardian authorization. If you believe a child’s information was provided without proper authorization, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
6. Retention and security
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary according to the type of information, why it was collected, account status, and applicable law. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You should protect your credentials and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or contact a privacy regulator.
You can update many details within the Service and can permanently delete your account from the app or the web account portal. To make another request, email hello@famleys.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting. Some information may be retained where legally permitted or required.
You can manage device permissions, calendar access, and notifications through your device or app settings. Removing access may limit related features.
8. International data transfers
Famleys and its providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions, approved contractual clauses, or other lawful mechanisms.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves or laws change. We will post the revised policy with a new “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when required. Your continued use after an update takes effect means the revised policy applies to your use of the Service.
